Armonika VDI Klavia: The Sovereign Virtual Desktop in Algeria
Published May 01, 2025
Abstract
Klavia, Armonika's VDI solution, delivers persistent and non-persistent virtual desktops, GPU acceleration, multi-device access — fully hosted in Algeria.
Armonika VDI Klavia is Armonika's virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) solution, designed and hosted in Algeria. It gives your employees a full virtual desktop — accessible from any device, anywhere in Algeria — with native performance, end-to-end security, and data that never leaves the country. Persistent desktops, non-persistent desktops, GPU acceleration, and multi-device support: Klavia brings together every enterprise VDI feature in a sovereign solution.
Why Adopt a VDI Solution in Algeria in 2025?
The traditional physical workstation is showing its limits as work becomes increasingly distributed. Algerian organizations face concrete challenges:
- Costly hardware fleets: a professional PC costs between 80,000 and 200,000 DZD, depreciates over 3 to 5 years, and fails at the worst moment
- Data security: a stolen or lost laptop can expose sensitive data
- Complex IT management: hundreds of machines to patch, update, and maintain individually
- Remote work and mobility: employees want to access their tools from home, from another wilaya, or from a personal device
- Slow onboarding: configuring a new workstation takes hours, sometimes days
Klavia solves all of these problems in one move: the workstation lives in Armonika's cloud, in Algeria, and your employees access it from the terminal of their choice.
Klavia's Key Features
Persistent Virtual Desktops
A persistent desktop is dedicated to a specific user. Their applications, settings, files, and profile are preserved between sessions — exactly like a personal PC, but hosted in Armonika Cloud.
Ideal for:
- Mobile workers (sales staff, consultants, executives)
- Developers with customized environments
- Users who need to install specific applications
- Employees working fully or partially remotely
Each user returns to their environment exactly where they left it, regardless of which device they connect from.
Non-Persistent (Pooled) Virtual Desktops
A non-persistent desktop resets on every logout: the user always starts from a clean, standardized image. Sessions are dynamically assigned from a pool of identical desktops.
Ideal for:
- Shared workstations (call centers, cashier desks, reception)
- Regulated environments requiring a "clean" image per session
- Training rooms and computer labs
- External contractors who temporarily access your information system
The key advantage: a single image to maintain for hundreds of users. Updating the master image propagates instantly to every desktop in the pool.
GPU Acceleration for Graphical Workloads
Klavia includes GPU acceleration support via vGPU (virtual GPU) technology. Each user or group of users can be allocated a dedicated fraction of a NVIDIA A100 GPU for demanding workloads:
- Design and CAD: AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA — native fluidity on virtual desktop
- Video processing and animation: encoding, real-time 3D rendering
- Visual data analysis: complex dashboards, GIS, cartography
- Light machine learning: Jupyter notebooks with GPU acceleration from the virtual desktop
The allocated GPU fraction is configurable per user profile. A graphic designer gets more GPU resources than an accountant, with proportional billing.
Native Multi-Device Support
Klavia is accessible from any device with a browser or thin client:
| Device | Access method | Experience |
|---|---|---|
| Windows PC | Klavia client or browser | Full |
| Mac | Klavia client or browser | Full |
| Thin client | Dedicated lightweight client | Optimized |
| Android tablet / iPad | Klavia mobile app | Adapted |
| Smartphone | Klavia mobile app | Basic |
| Chromebook | Web browser | Full |
The Klavia client is available for Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS. For constrained environments (low bandwidth, unstable network), Klavia dynamically adapts image quality and compression to maintain fluidity.
High-Performance Display Protocol
Klavia uses a remote display protocol optimized for Algerian connections — capable of working correctly from 1 Mbps of bandwidth, with imperceptible latency for connections from Algeria's major cities (Algiers, Oran, Constantine, Annaba).
- Adaptive compression: maximum quality on fiber, intelligent compression on 4G/ADSL
- USB redirection: plug a USB drive or printer into your local device and it appears in your virtual desktop
- Audio/video redirection: microphone, speakers, and webcam from your local device work inside the virtual desktop
- Bidirectional copy-paste: between the virtual desktop and the local device
- Multi-monitor support: extend your virtual desktop across multiple screens

The Klavia Connection Broker is the heart of the solution: it authenticates users (Active Directory, LDAP, or SSO via SAML/OIDC integration), determines their profile, and connects them to the appropriate virtual desktop — persistent or non-persistent, with or without GPU.
Klavia Security: Zero Data on the User's Device
One of Klavia's major security advantages: no business data resides on the user's device. Everything stays in Armonika's datacenter in Algeria.
- A stolen laptop? No data compromised — the virtual desktop remains in Armonika Cloud
- An employee leaves the company? Access is revoked in one click; their data stays in the information system
- A malicious USB drive? USB redirection policy is configurable (allow, block, read-only)
- A public Wi-Fi network? The connection to the virtual desktop is TLS 1.3 encrypted end to end
The Timpani IDS monitors Klavia sessions in real time: abnormal authentication attempts, suspicious behavior, off-hours access — everything is detected and alerted.

Klavia delivers functional parity with global market leaders, with a decisive advantage: your data stays in Algeria and your invoice is in DZD.
Klavia Deployment: From 10 to 10,000 Users
Klavia scales to the size of your organization:
Small organizations (10–100 users) SaaS deployment on Armonika Cloud: no infrastructure to manage, monthly per-user subscription, up and running within 48 hours.
Mid-size organizations (100–1,000 users) Hybrid architecture: Klavia SaaS for the majority of users, dedicated instances for GPU profiles and highly sensitive data.
